About

This not your typical forum. Empower yourself by reading and responding to my posts. Share your story. This Blog was created to provide a place for your voice, your experience, and your life, because it all matters. We are Women who need a hand up, not a hand out. We want to know your struggles, and how you use your strength. We are better when we pull each other up, instead of putting one another down. Let’s embrace who we truly are and continue to show the world! Send us your stories, photos, and experiences. We want to embrace our power and share it with others who will benefit!

The pictures above of my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother represent the strong women who shaped my life. Their lives were not easy, but they managed to do the best with what they had and never give up. This group is dedicated to them as the “RJ” represents the first initials of their names. They are amazing women who stood strong through post Civil War, Jim Crow, and pre- Dr. King, Malcolm X, Medgar Evers, and the strong women who stood tall beside them. It represents the untold stories, those that we don’t hear about because the media filters what we read and see. It also represents the strength that we all have that has been passed down through generations by our ancestors. The word of the day is “woke”, are you? Rise up and show your sistahood no matter what. Let’s stop being ashamed of each other because we were taught that being a Woman, is not enough, not good, and cannot be celebrated. Embrace your strength, beauty, and knowledge. You are more than enough!

I am Dr. Melanie Magruder, my pseudonym is Grace Sowtrue. I chose a name that resonates with me and represents where I am in my life today.  The first name represents the Grace of God being very present in my life, without it I would not be who or where I am today. The last name, Sowtrue is a metaphor for sowing seeds in our lives that manifest into what we have planted, which is true. If you have heard the phrase “reap what you sow” or “karma, is what you put out into the universe comes back to you”, these sayingsw are “Sow True.”

I welcome feedback, questions, discussions, and your story.  I know you will enjoy our posts, please let me know. If there are topics you would like to read about, let me know that too!
